THE NEED IS GREAT

It is common for people who are sick and distressed, like when you end up in the ER, to forget their most basic health histories including medications, diagnosis and allergies. Most people do not carry a copy of their OLD EKG or medications with them simply due to the inconvenience factor.

TESTIMONIALS

BC  M.D.

"Hello my friend.  Just wanted to let you know that I had to go into the ER at 5am Monday, and I used your app to give them my old EKG for comparison... and it made a big difference as my RBBB etc were not new..."

CC  M.D.

"This would be a reliable, brilliant way to save the patient unnecessary costly visits, ambulance rides, angiograms while giving the medical provider assurance that there are no acute, sinister EKG changes."

RB  M.D. FACEP

"I love the idea... I think your app has the potential to be very useful to EM providers."

WHAT IS A PERSONAL HEALTH RECORD (PHR) OR PERSONAL MEDICAL RECORD (PMR)?

A personal health record or personal medical record is not the same as an electronic medical record (EMR).

A PHR/PMR is an individual's medical record which contains medical information which the patient has stored and maintained on their own. Personal medical health records are maintained in many forms including handwritten, typed or some other format including electronic. They are NOT controlled by or maintained by an outside institution such as an insurance company or institution. Some patients may choose to share their personal information with others but this is under the control of the patient.

A EMR (electronic medical record) or EHR (electronic health record) is owned, controlled and maintained by an institution such as doctors' office, hospital or health insurance plan.

A PHR/PMR that is tied to an EHR is called a patient portal.

Frequently Ask Questions

IF NOT THE CLOUD THEN WHERE IS MY DATA STORED?

Your records are stored only on your phone and nowhere else.  You control what is stored on the app and you control the ability to share this information with your health care team.

IT ALL SOUNDS GREAT, BUT WHAT DOES THIS APP ACTUALLY DO?

The MY ER FILE app allows you to easily take pictures, upload stored photos or use pdf files and incorporate them into the app. You can also input text.

There is no better time to add a copy of your new EKG than when you are having it done. Simply open the app and take a picture of your new EKG.  New medication or change in dosing? No problem, just take a picture of your new medication bottle and delete the old medication image.

I’VE SEEN OTHER APPS THAT SERVE SIMILAR PURPOSES. WHAT MAKES YOURS THE BEST?

The MY ER FILE was designed by Dr. Curtis Brown,M.D. practicing emergency medicine physician with over 30 years experience.  This app cuts the clutter and organizes your essential emergency medical records in an easy to use format.

WHO BENEFITS FROM THE MY ER FILE APP?

There are multiple winners when patients and health care providers have emergency access to an individual's essential emergency medical records. You benefit by reducing your risk of medication errors, avoiding unnecessary testing and hospitalizations, and reducing errors in diagnosis which can lead to increased cost and increased risk of complications and bad outcomes.

The hospital benefits by reducing their costs, resource utilization and liability.

The insurance companies benefit by reducing unnecessary costs driven by the lack of medical records in emergency care.
